Forwards win matches. Backs decide by how much.
“Forwards win matches. Backs decide by how much.”
Ne’er a truer word has been spoken, especially when it comes to NRLCEO.
Work Horse tries lay the foundation for any virtual side. Without a strong forward pack you are relying on your outside backs to get that last pass or your kicker to be playing for the team on the right end of the scoreboard. Whilst it’s great to have those players, even the best try scorers only have a strike rate of around 50%. Forwards though, consistently get it done week in week out.
Work Horse Watch will follow these once unheralded heroes; celebrate their performances and hopefully unearth a few gems as the season progresses. We’ll discuss the players who come close each week and frustrations that come with that. With any luck we might also witness what I consider to be the holy grail of Work Horse performances; the elusive double-double, a player that scores a double work horse try and two actual tries in the one game!
Who will it be? Fensom? Parker? Cam Smith?
Our man Geoff Adams will be keeping an eye on all of the top tacklers for you this year so that you can brag about their limitless numbers, or pick up a sneaky outlying player who is just about to break into the workhorse club.
