Trade Talk: Keep or Sweep?
Players to Trade Out
Michael Morgan
Morgan has been disappointing, scoring a total of 6 points through three rounds. Morgan has also been moved from fullback, where he was so effective last year, to partner JT in the halves. It looks like Morgan will be having a down year, and if you can find any coach unaware of how crap he has been trade him now!
Ben Hannant
I got blasted for some by saying Douglas is as valuable as Hannant. The Polar Bear got a combined 25 last week. Sure he got WHs in rounds 1&2 but 41 and 46 involvements are hardly inspiring numbers. In a poor performing team I’d rather bail on Hannant and get value whilst I can before his role changes even more.
Wade Graham
Wade Graham has gone from fantasy stud to dud during the offseason. He probably comes good once Gallen remembers he doesn’t like playing for the Sharks and Luke Lewis needs another hip replacement, but until then I’d rather not be carrying him.
Graham will also be playing some 5/8 with Barba out and his tackling numbers will go down. Sure he may be dual position in a few weeks but a 5/8 that doesn’t get assists combined with a backrower who doesn’t get tackles is useless.
Will Hopoate
The Eels win 18% of games without Jarryd Hayne. They don’t have Jarryd Hayne. If you can convince someone there is still any value in the Hopoate name get rid of him whilst you can. Five points in three games is not good enough.
Players to Trade In
Sam Perrett
Perrett is a dud fullback. He is the worst. He is a very average winger as a finisher. But, put him in the Bulldogs backline, behind their monster pack and outside the highly talented Tim Lafai, and he can be a weapon. He is dual position now and has some value for NRLCEO coaches.
Jack De Belin
De Belin is a dual listed FR/BR currently averaging 50 involvements. He is Nate Myles without the hype and won’t miss time due to origin. He is an NRLCEO coaches dream.
Sauaso Sue
Sue is averaging 44 involvements for a Tigers team likely to spend a lot of time defending. Sue is getting decent minutes and is the type of unknown who might even be a free agent in many leagues. Nab him early before people realise what is going on! He isn’t a guy you’d like to have to start every week but is a guy you can happily play on your bench or start in a pinch.
Glenn Stewart
Stewart has got 53 and 49 involvements in the last two games after playing limited minutes in his Round 1 return. I have no reason to expect he won’t continue to improve and would love to have him in my squad.
Kade Snowden
Snowden is averaging 50 involvements and 135 metres. He may not quite hit a double workhorse, but at this ratehe doesn’t look like missing you four points each week either. If you can acquire him, do it! The front row position is thin this year and if you can get eight points from it you are off to a good start.
