Round 7 Dream Team
In the week of Easter it was fitting that a Rabbit stole the show, but the Hayne Plane also showed his class over the long weekend. Unfortunately for big Sam he may have his name in lights, but he didn’t get the chocolates this week as the Dogs won their third game in a row by just one point. Incredible stuff.
After starting the weekend with a one point ball game, we finished it on Monday night with a three point and two point game as well. Throw in the Raiders last minute victory and the Knights would be the only team feeling really beaten this weekend.
Now onto the highest scoring Dream Team representatives this week.
Sam Burgess (13 points)
We have just come to expect this from the Yorkshire Terrier. He goes about his business in a no-nonsense, sometimes grubby fashion, but he always racks up the stats. 42 tackles and 24 hitups gaining 150m mean he easily nudged over the double workhorse criteria once again as well as racking up a try and line break. Despite signing Glenn Stewart today as a replacement, the Rabbits are REALLY going to miss him.
Jarryd Hayne (13 points)
A brilliant run of form has seen the Hayne Plane move into equal first on the Dally M table alongside Josh Reynolds and Gareth Widdop. His NRLCEO form has been pretty handy too. 30 points in the first seven rounds justifies his early selection in many drafts and if the Eels continue their current attacking form, his points run will continue.
Shaun Kenny-Dowall (11 points)
I’m a self confessed SKD stalker. I’m a huge fan and have always been happily been punished in the trade room to get him into my team but he has been bloody ordinary since 2010 when we scored 21 tries. So it was with great pleasure that I saw SKD notch up two tries and three line breaks
Honourable Mentions (10 points)
Two no frills forwards made impressions for their sides in different ways this week. Matt Gillett easily achieved a workhorse with 54 involvements and managed to snaffle a try and two line breaks to boot. Josh Jackson lived up to his pre season work rate hype after nailing a double workhorse with 66 involvements. His two line break assists allowed him to reach double figures as well.
Three backs also notched up double figures through two try efforts for their respective clubs. Reece Robinson celebrated his Raiders victory with a double, Jorge Taufua continued his great comeback from injury and Mahe Fonua scored his two in a losing side.
