Round 3 Dream Team

Round 3 Team of the Week

What a performance from Jordan Rapana. As a Raiders fan and someone who captained Rapana in my Supporters League I had the pleasure of watching this performance in the flesh. Two tries, two try assists, three line breaks and a double metre eater meant a 19 point reward for last year’s NRLCEO Dream Team winger.

Another Raiders brute dominated the Tigers on the park and in fantasy too. Josh Papalii looked massive on the weekend as he racked up 14 CEO points through a try, two line breaks, a sneaky 41 involvement workhorse and in 21 runs a 215 metre double metre eater too! It is the fifth time he has scored double digits on NRLCEO and his highest ever return.

Bulldogs sting Brett Morris scored his 11th double since our records stretch back to 2013 and in the process his 134th try in 199 first grade games. A quality record and one he will continue to build on. He is 22nd on the list of overall try scorers and sits behind only Greg Inglis, Manu Vatuvei and Billy Slater in terms of current players.

I dropped Euan Aitken from my team and he repaid me by scoring his second ever career double with two line breaks for ten points. I can’t see it happening too much this year though.

Here is the rest of the Team of the Week:

  1. Michael Gordon (9)
  2. Brett Morris (10)

Overall Dream Team

It took him 26 years to register his first NRLCEO point, but this late bloomer has more than made up for it! Cody Walker scored 104 NRLCEO points last year which genuinely stunned me looking back at his history. Now he’s the 2017 MVP after three rounds. Two try assists in each game so far and a sneaky try for good measure. He’s now in the top echelon of CEO five-eighths.

Right behind him is Semi Radradra who was considered a potential draft disaster this year. He dropped down the rankings overall but he’s repaying those who kept the faith so far but that’s only based on his Round 2 performance. We need to see more of it.

Nathan Ross rounds out the top four players and is equal with Jordan Rapana who can’t even make the team this week. I get the feeling we might be seeing two blokes destined for 15+ tries each this year in the race for overall top try scorer.

Here is the Dream Team at the conclusion of Round 3 (with total points in brackets):

  1. Latrell Mitchell (21)
  2. Semi Radradra (25)
  3. Bryson Goodwin (23)
  4. Tyrone Peachey (22)
  5. Nathan Ross (25)
  6. Cody Walker (26)
  7. Shaun Johnson (19)
  8. Paul Vaughan (18)
  9. Cameron McInnes (24)
  10. Josh McGuire (18)
  11. Josh Papalii (24)
  12. John Sutton (18)
  13. Jack De Belin (18)

Points based on: Tries (4), Workhorses (4), Double Workhorses (8), Metre Eaters (2), Double Metre Eaters (4), Try Assists (2), Line Breaks (1), Line Break Assists (1), 40/20s (1), Field Goals (1), Sin Bins (-2) and Send Offs (-4).
