Round 19 Dream Teams
Looking at the best performances each week to determine the Team of the Week and using the player’s season totals to determine the overall Dream Team for 2016 on a week by week basis.
Round 19 Team of the Week:
We’ve had some surprise entries for Player of the Week including Cameron McInnes, Tyrone Phillips and Ricky Leutele but this one takes the cake as the best of them all! Bunty Afoa (14) played just his second NRL game of all time over the weekend and scored his first ever NRLCEO points. Not just one point though, he scored 14 points through two tries, two line breaks and a workhorse. Take a bow son.
In equal first place, but losing out on the tie break due to less SuperDraft points, was Corey Oates (14). It was his second two try or more performance for the year and takes his season tally to 12 tries, equal to his total for last year.
Sharks winger Sosaia Feki (13) wasn’t far off the pace either. He’s having his best ever NRLCEO season with 68 points from 12 tries, one try assist, ten line breaks and five metre eaters. He’s now the 13th ranked winger in the competition.
Titans tall man Nene Macdonald (12) equalled his highest ever NRLCEO score with 12 points. He previously scored 12 in Round 24 last season and has eight tries for the year this year. Majority from kicks where he is proving very lethal.
Rounding out the double digit scores was Tyrone Peachey (10) and youngster Connor Watson (10) who showed an amazing turn of pace. Why did the Roosters sign Keary again?
Note: points are based on tries (4), workhorses (4), double workhorses (8), try assists (2), line breaks (1), line break assists (1), metre eaters (2), double metre eaters (4), field goals (1), 40/20’s (1), sin bins (-2) and send offs (-4)
Overall Dream Team:
Each week we will accumulate the points for each player to come up with the Overall Dream Team for 2016.
The Tedesco train has been taken over! And I can’t believe it. Ben Barba (106) has overtaken the flying Tiger after yet another masterful display of try assists against the Chooks. As you can see from his graph below his form has taken off in the last two weeks and he has been slowly building all year. He now has 11 tries, 12 try assists, 10 line breaks, 10 line break assists and nine metre eaters – a fantastic display of consistency across the park.
Shaun Johnson (92) is an interesting new entry to the Dream Team. I’ve heard many people saying that he hasn’t had a great season, but from an NRLCEO perspective his 92 points has been a typical Shaun Johnson rollercoaster.
Tohu Harris (92) makes his way back into the Dream Team for the fourth time this year after Elliott Whitehead was on the bye. Now that Will Chambers is back his place in the back row should be safe which is great news for CEOs leading into the finals.
After Ben Barba’s surprise entry into the NRLCEO century club we also had another worker silently make his way into the team too. Aiden Tolman (104) raised the bat with little fuss as he generally does. He is 3rd on the front rowers list and won’t be able to catch the leaders with his limited attacking stats. We are still waiting on the hooker race between Cameron Smith (98), Mitch Rein (97), Jake Friend (97) and Josh Hodgson (94) as well as Trent Merrin (91) and Jordan Rapana (91) to join the club.
Here is the full Dream Team after nineteen rounds:
