Round 1 Dream Teams
Like last year we will be looking at the best performances each week to determine the Team of the Week and using the player’s season totals to determine the overall Dream Team for 2016 on a week by week basis.
Round 1 Team of the Week:
The first week is always manic as people cut and pick-up players on a whim that they might become the next great workhorse or the next Curtis Rona on the end of a wing.
If we go on that theory then Marika Koroibete is well on his way to a big year. He was no slouch last year either scoring 15 tries and 106 points in total (if you include meter eaters), but I get the feeling he’s in for an even bigger year this year! He looked lightning fast and his defence is still frail, but you don’t get negative points for that on NRLCEO.
The second most impressive performance of the round was a shaggy haired bloke named Ethan Lowe. The new mop of the north was very impressive scoring 13 points through a workhorse, try, try assist, line break and metre eater. The perfect back rower performance!
A perennial afterthought in NRLCEO, Greg Bird stepped up to be counted this week. He played 62 minutes and racked up a workhorse, two try assists, two line break assists and a metre eater for his first double digit score in the last three years.
After most thought he wouldn’t even play Round 1, James Graham proved his value as the 8th most popular draft pick scoring a mighty double workhorse and his first ever double metre eater to boot too!
Rounding out the top five was impressive performances from Corey Oates, Shaun Johnson, Simon Mannering and a surprising Paul Carter.
The full team is listed below:
1. James Tedesco (10)
2. Corey Oates (11)
3. Tim Simona (8)
