Crystal Balls and the Supporters League Six Pack (Round 5)
For those of us in a supporter leagues we had the unenviable task of selecting what we considered to be the top 6 players for our team of choice prior to the draft commencing. Whilst in most cases there were some ‘no brainers’, often times towards the end of the six there are a number of names being tossed up. Do you select on past performance, potential upside or gamble on some new rookies…
This year mixed things up with goal kickers no longer being required it was on pure player performance. After five rounds of NRL we take a look at which Supporters club coach is in the box seat with the highest combined score for the top six players scores and team goals.
Total Points
When analysing the points scored by the top six players for each team and taking account of team goals we can see that some supporter’s coaches have a significant advantage. The spread is considerable with Wayne’s bunnies doubling the titans which is enough to put a smile on Bennett’s face – well more like a smirk.
There are some surprise packets in the rankings with St George Illawarra locking down second place and Brisbane coming in at fifth. Whilst there seems to be some relationship between the NRL performance and this ranking it is also influenced by the spread of CEO talent and a core group of player dominance also plays a greater role such as that of the Warriors and Brisbane. I have also included the percentage of player points and therefore the influence the CEO Coach has had via selections.

Delving into the detail for each team we see some significant surprises which I would assume many coaches left for their fellow CEO’s in the draft and in some cases may have even been in the spud pool come round 1.
If you picked up the likes of Chee-Kam, Burr and Okunbor in your initial six you must have a crystal ball.

I will be back a little later in the season to see how things have changed but until then post below whether you correctly picked your top six and what players presence or omission was the biggest surprise.
Good luck, enjoy your football and carn you mighty Illawarra Steelers!
