Captains Call: Round 4

Welcome to week four of Captains Call.

Brought back down to Earth!

That’s how the Eels and Tigers would be feeling on Monday. While the Eels showed some early fight against the Roosters, the class came through in the end in what was a comprehensive win for the Chooks. The Tigers came up against the cellar dweller Bulldogs and got shown up. Therefore, it’s so hard to make a call on ‘who are the teams to beat’ so early in the season. Give it until round seven and that will give a much clearer indication. Right now, the only three teams you can’t go past as the Storm, Roosters and Rabbits.

Welcome back Tom Trbojevic! What a game he had!!! If you are lucky enough to have him, you would have been thrilled to see him come back with a bang. Turbos inclusion is also a boost for Daly Cherry-Evans owners. He has a great working relationship with Turbo, and he benefits from it.

Let’s review the five from last week:

  1. Burgess – 4
  2. Farah – 4
  3. Alvaro – 4
  4. Oates – 4
  5. Graham – 9

All three forwards picked in Burgess, Farah and Alvaro did what they had to do in terms of work horse. Farah and Alvaro made it comfortably where as Burgess had exactly 40 involvements. Oates continued his good try scoring form to snag a very opportunistic try to take his tally to five for the season. The best of the week was Campbell Graham who registered his second career double as well as a line break.

Let’s preview five for this week. Don’t forget to vote or leave a comment below.

Jake Granville

Has had a great start to the season work horse wise. He registered his second career double work horse two weeks ago. He is averaging 51 involvements per game which is up there with the best NRLCEO hookers. If the Cowboys forward pack can get a roll on, his run meters will also increase to give him a chance at another double work horse.

Cameron Smith

A lot of questions hung over Smith at the start of draft season. Would he be as effective? Would he play enough minutes? Will be still be involved enough? Yes, yes and yes! Just like Granville, Smith is averaging over 50 involvements a game and seems to be running the ball more than past seasons which is good news for his double work horse output.

James Graham

Like Smith, people were wondering if Grahams work horse days are behind him. Now he might not be getting the minutes to get the doubles he used too, he’s back to his workaholic best with three work horses from three games.

Adam Reynolds

Reynolds has started the season well registering five try assists so far. He looks ready to dominate a game and this game against the Sea Eagles might be it. This could be a very high scoring game and if it is Reynolds will be the conductor.

Cameron Munster

Like Reynolds, Munster looks ready to tear a game apart. So far, he only has 11 points for the season but against the Bulldogs he could double that. Expect Munster to cross the line at least once.
