Captains Call: Round 15

Welcome to week 15 of Captains Call.

With the stand-alone rep weekend finished we can now focus on the NRL, even if it’s only for one week until the next bye round. New Zealand were way too good for Tonga who are in desperate need on quality halves if they are to seriously contend with the big three.

Fiji were in a different class than Lebanon who tried hard but were ultimately out played.

It was a tougher game for Samoa against PNG, but their class shone through at the end, icing the game in the last 15.

The big game was nothing short of a thrashing. New South Wales were way to good for Queensland who never looked in the game and had to rely on a controversial penalty try for their only points. Queensland will have to make some changes, they can’t expect to put that team on the park next game and hope to be competitive, especially in Sydney. SOS Cam Smith???

Let’s preview five for this week and don’t forget to vote or leave a comment below.

Damien Cook

Had a relatively quiet State of Origin by his standards so will be looking to remind everyone of his ability against the Tigers. The top scorer on NRLCEO so far will have a field day.

Dale Finucane

Off the back of his first Origin, Finucane will come out firing against the Roosters. In a game that will be played through the middle, expect him to rack up the tackles as he does most weeks.

Josh Papalii

After the horror show that was Queensland on Sunday night, expect Papalii to be at his rampaging best. He won’t want another game like he had for Queensland so expect big things.

Cody Walker

After being overlooked for Origin two and with the possibility of his halves partner being back, Walker will have a blinder against the Tigers. He is the leading number six in the comp for a reason. With Reynolds back, he will be more effective.

Kalyn Ponga

If fit to play, Kalyn will want to remind everyone of his ability after the quiet performance against New South Wales. One of the most naturally gifted players in the NRL, he won’t be down for long.
