Captains Call: Round 14

Welcome to week 14 of Captains Call.

The Origin effect is starting to take its toll on some teams. The once flying Roosters and Rabbits are slowly coming back to the pack but make no mistake, quality teams like these won’t be down for long. While the current top three battle is what everyone expected at the start of the season, it’s the next three teams that are probably the closest. All on 16 points, all running into some form. The way things are, the top six have a chance to win the comp this season as I think the Raiders, Knights and Sharks have closed that gap on the top three. It will make for one interesting finals series.

Let’s review the five from last week:

Elliot Whitehead – 6

Jordan McLean – 0

Cameron Smith – 9

Jack Wighton – 0

Anthony Milford – 6

Jordan McLean was well on track to get a workhorse, but an injury with just over 10 minutes left forced him from the field.

While Jack Wighton had a good game, it didn’t relate to any CEO points.

Elliot Whitehead made his usual workhorse and picked up a try assist with some lovely soccer skills.

Anthony Milford crossed for a try and pick up a line break and line break assist on the way.

Best of the week was Cameron Smith. Smith picked up a work horse, two try assists and a line break assist. Was only four involvements and two meters away from another double work horse.

Let’s preview five for this week. Don’t forget to vote or leave a comment below.

Jake Trbojevic

While Trbojevic has been super consistent, he hasn’t been able to get that double workhorse this season this game might be it. With his brother back playing, Jake could be in for a huge game.

Andrew Fifita

Fifita has been one of the in-form front rowers of the comp. Coming up against the Raiders, Fifita will be looking to have a massive game in which if they win, they would leap frog the Raiders.

Jai Arrow

While Arrow didn’t pick up a workhorse last round, he was backing up from Origin. With a full week’s rest and after just beating the Broncos, Arrow, the leader of the Titans forwards, will be looking to continue his massive season.

James Tedesco

Tedesco is one of the form fullbacks so far this season. Up against a Dogs team who were torn apart and off the back of a bad loss to the Panthers, the Roosters will look to bounce back strongly which usually means points for Tedesco.

Corey Oates

Oates will be rearing to go after missing out on last weeks loss. Marking up against Ferguson, I think Oates will have a field day crossing for at least two tries. This game could get ugly.
