Captains Call: Round 10
Welcome to Week 10.
First up, the Napa curse continues. Since I picked up Dylan Napa in round five where I was three wins and a draw in the first four rounds, I haven’t won a game since. This includes being the second highest scorer the last two weeks and still coming up with a loss. Time to turf him. It’s got me thinking, how many of you out there have had the same type of thing happen? Comment below to share your story.
Let’s review last weeks players and Havili had one of his quietest games for a while in terms on NRLCEO points with a single line break. The Raiders look a better team when he’s on the park and was given less minutes last week due to the fact the game was won pretty early. Jake Turbo made an easy workhorse and had a line break to go with it. Oates crossed for another try which makes it four in five weeks for him. He also picked up a line break in that same play. Ryan James had his best game yet with a workhorse and a try. He also had enough involvements for a double workhorse but fell 29 meters short. The pick of the week and surprise, surprise, it was Damien Cook. A try, line break, line break assist, try assist and a workhorse was a big enough afternoon that it earned him an early mark.
Let’s preview five more this week and don’t forget to vote or leave a comment below.
Simon Mannering – safe bet
Since coming back from injury, Mannering hasn’t skipped a beat. Four workhorse tries in the last four weeks and again in the starting side means another easy workhorse for him. He’s bound to add an attacking stat to his game at some point, this weeks might be it.
Elijah Taylor – safe bet
Taylor is one of those players that if you want an easy workhorse then he is your man. The only thing that stops him is when he gets injured, which unfortunately has been too often this season. If he stays on the park, easy eight points.
Daniel Alvaro – safe bet
57 involvements in 49 minutes, need I say anymore? He is not far off getting his first double either and this could be the week against a team that only know one way, up the middle.
Josh Addo-Carr – risk and reward
This is almost a safe bet due to his current form but as we know anything can happen. Against a struggling Titans side and with his team coming off the back of a bad loss expect Addo-Carr to cross the stripe.
Billy Slater – risk and reward
Same thing goes for Slater as I stated above. The Titans are struggling, and this could be a massive game for Slater and the rest of the Storm backline.
