Captains Call: Round 8
Welcome to the eighth edition of Captains Call.
I picked it, Semi Radradra back in the points. A try, try assist and two line breaks is a very good return for those who took the punt and named him captain.
Very disappointed in Jordan Rapana scoring a zero. Rapana was heavily marked by Ken Maumalo and because of that Leilua was able to run riot on his inside.
James Graham, three weeks in a row now he has a double workhorse. Also managed to grab himself a line break assist. Looks like he’s getting back too last years form.
Simon Mannering again picked up an easy workhorse and was only three involvements and a few meters short of another double.
The pick of the bunch was Gareth Widdop. What a performance it was!
A try, two try assists, one line break, three line break assists on top of the four goals he booted. He’s done enough now to convince even me to pick him up, so I’ve don’t that now in my private competition. Let’s hope I haven’t put the kiss of death on him.

Andrew McCullough (safe bet)
One of the last remaining players to have not missed a workhorse this year, McCullough has also managed to cross the line a couple of times. He has managed to get one double workhorse and if Sam Burgess isn’t there for the Bunnies this week I can see a lot more running out of dummy half for McCullough to possibly get his second double of the year.

Gavin Cooper (safe bet)
Without his best mate Thurston in the team Coopers attacking stats will be down, however they are playing the Knights so anything is possible. He is yet to register a score less than four in any game this year and has managed a workhorse in every game this season baring the first round.

Andrew Fifita (risk and reward)
The unpredictable Fifita comes into the match against Titans is a little bit of form. Has managed a workhorse in each of his last three games. Crossed the line for his first try of the year last start and may well do it again this week. Both times the Sharks played the Titans last year Fifita crossed for a try. Only concern for Fifita is his discipline.

Billy Slater (risk and reward)
Slater looks to have found some of that form the had him as the best fullback in the world. Three try assists, three line break assists and a line break was his best return since round nine 2015. Against a Warriors team that looks a little fragile out wide, Slater could be in the points again and it wouldn’t surprise me if he crossed the line for his first try of the season.

Tom Trbojevic (risk and reward)
Turbo has been in some good form this year. Has three tries, four try assists, seven line breaks and six line break assists. Manly come up against an in form Raiders side which may scare people off naming him as captain, however, round 25 last season Manly racked up 30 points against them, Tommy picked up a hat trick of tries and line breaks as well as a line break assist. Now I don’t expect Manly to win, I do expect Tom to at cross the line for at least one try but wouldn’t surprise me if he did more.
