Who’s Hot & Who’s Not after Rd 2?

Well who would have thought that after the opening two rounds the Dragons and the Broncos would be the only two undefeated sides?

Lets have a look at who set the competition alight and who was left to rue this week.

HOT:

Count them up: 1, 2, 3 tries for Anthony Minichiello in his 278th appearance

Anthony Minichello:

A career first hat trick for 15-year veteran. Just last week a certain “editor at large” question whether Minichello had stayed on for a year too long. This week Mini showed form is temporary but class is forever.

Gareth Widdop:

He made our list last week and this week he’s done it again. His team is hot at the minute and the play making ability of Widdop is at the fore. Once again he lead his side to a big win.

Cooper Cronk:

The guy is Clutch. When you’re in the final moments of a tight contest, there is no other man you would want in your corner. Cronk once again saves his side for the second week in a row.

Andrew McCullough:

The Broncos missed out on Cameron Smith. So what. McCullough has been a stand out in his undefeated side with his high work rate. Future captain of the club.

Luke Brooks:

So much hype around the kid and last week it looked as though he may not live up to the expectations but fast forward a week and you see why all the hype. Brooks was on top of his game against the Titans, setting up three tries and grabbing one himself.

NOT:

Allegations around substance abuse continue to hamper the Sharks and it has shown on the field early this season

Cronulla Sharks:

With the Captain on the sidelines, stars and future stars are leaving and the ASADA drama is still looming over the embattled club. Tough times in the Shire and I’m not confident that they can get out of trouble.

Darcy Lussick:

Arrived at the Eels in 2013 with so much potential but so far has been a huge disappointment. His high shot on former teammate Jared Waerea-Hargreaves deserved a send off and the weeks that he’ll have on sidelines will hurt his now struggling club.

Isaac Luke:

You’d forgiven for not knowing if Isaac Luke played against Manly or not. The usual dynamic number 9 was barely sighted on Friday night and his 16 tackles, was well down on his high defensive standards.

David Mead:

10 runs for just 77 meters is upsetting for any winger especially for one with the game breaking abilities of Mead. Three errors as well capped of a bad day for him and his Gold Coast teammates

Robbie Rochow:

Played the full 80 and couldn’t muster a workhorse. This is a guy who was putting in doubles last year. The youngster in an aging forward pack would have been disappointed with his weekend efforts.
