Round 2 Dream Team

Rd 2 DT

Round two of the NRL season and we saw three clear floggings. There is no other word for it.   The Roosters, Tigers and Bulldogs all had field days and therefore represent a very high number of the Dream Team spots.

Anthony Minichiello (15 points)

The old boy really stood up this week.  It’s been heavily publicised as his first hat trick in the top grade, but it’s well worth harping on about.  He was excellent.  Many thought that RTS would push him out of the side, but he stood up and starred in this performance, as did RTS.  3 tries, 3 line breaks and a HUGE 219 metres gained.  If it is to be his last season, then he looks like he wants to go out with a bang.

Mitchell Aubusson (13 points)

Aubusson really is a frustrating NRLCEO player.  Each time you write him off, he comes back and throws in a performance like he did over the weekend.  His support play was first class and even though a workhorse would have been the cherry on the top, he did the trick after taking the injured Tim Simona’s spot in the centres in this author’s side.

Robbie Farah (13 points)

Already an NRLCEO immortal, Farah displayed his class in a typical performances for the Tigers.  His double workhorse was also accompanied by a try assist, two line breaks and a line break assist.  23 points after just two games puts him well on track for yet another 120 points plus year.

Pat Richards (11 points)

Richards’ is a great story.  Nine years out of the NRL and after blitzing point scoring records in the English Super League, everyone expected him to come back off the pace.  Well he has proven everyone wrong and come out of the blocks firing.  Three tries in two games and 11 from 12 conversions makes him an asset to any NRLCEO.  The only concern is whether the Tigers can keep up their attack.

Honourable Mentions (10 points)

There were four other players who scored 10 points this weekend and all of them are backs.  Jarrod Croker, Kevin Naiqama and Roger Tuivasa-Sheck all scored doubles to reach their double figures, while Luke Brooks crossed the stripe once and setup three others, fulfilling his highly rated promise (this week anyway).

He is a former Bears, now Raiders tragic. A rangy lock who avoided running the ball at all costs, he once tackled (flopped on) John Hopoate. Web geek by day, web geek by night.
