Who’s Hot & Who’s Not after Rd 1?

With round 1 well and truly dusted, your CEO side may be flying or you’re struggling in urgent need of making some trades or getting a few gems from the free agents pool. In “Who’s Hot, Who’s Not” we’ll take a look back at blokes who started the season brightly and few others who would have wished that we were still in the pre-season.

HOT:

Jonathan Thurston:

The Cowboys came up against a surprisingly strong Raiders side, where Jonathan Thurston was the difference. Thurston lead his side with class showing why he is rated as one of the best in the world. If you got Thurston anywhere outside the first round of your draft then you can consider yourself lucky.

Tyson Frizell

Tyson Frizell:

Frizell was named on the bench however on game day was elevated to the starting line up. His strong running saw him score 2 tries, he was strong in defence also doing enough to gain a workhorse for his efforts. I doubt Frizell was high on anyone’s drafting priorities however if you’ve managed get him in the draft or from the free agents before your opponents did you’ve got a great dark horse pick.

Adam Docker:

The Shellharbour junior is an absolute beast and on Saturday afternoon he was immense. I’m expecting big things from Penrith this year and if Docker can stay injury free he’ll be a big player for your CEO side.

Greg Inglis:

Three tries to open the season. Did you expect anything less from the future immortal? Inglis looked dominant with the ball in hand, if you managed to pick him up in your draft good luck to you, you’re in for a very fruitful season.

Gareth Widdop:

The former Storm number 6 had a dream debut for the red v. Four try assists and four line-break assists made a great Sunday afternoon for Widdop and the Dragons.  If Widdop is in your side he’s your kicker and it’s a good sign because the dragons attacked more on Sunday than they have in years.

NOT:

SBW
SBW went high in a lot of drafts, but now sees himself warming the pine for a few weeks. Source: Sportsbet.com.au

Sonny Bill Williams:

SBW grabbed a workhorse but didn’t set the world alight on Thursday night. The biggest problem however is Sonny being out for 3 weeks due to a shoulder charge. If you want SBW in your team now looks like as good a time as any to work a trade.

Adam Blair:

Those of you that thought Blair would improve this year after Benji Marshall’s departure, you were wrong. Blair played 59 minutes for just 4 runs. If he’s in your squad let him go now it’s looking like another season of Blair being dead weight.

Luke Burgess:

While his side won, Burgess made two double movement errors. One being pretty blatant, for the 26 minutes he was on the field he gave away three errors. Burgess starting season on the bench means that it looks like he won’t present much value in NRLCEO terms.

Andrew Fifita:

Didn’t have a bad game however he’s in the same boat as SBW. Fifita is out for two weeks due to a shoulder charge suspension. The Bulldogs new multi million-dollar signing is an asset to any CEO side however two weeks on the sideline could be enough for some CEO’s to consider making a very big trade.

Shaun Johnson:

Johnson pays the price for a poor Warriors side. The man that leads the Warriors around the park was quiet in attack only having 1 run and not providing much for his outside men. However CEO’s don’t panic it’s Shaun Johnson the guys a freak, watch him to be at his dangerous best against the Dragons this week.
